Today was our first official day in paradise as far as weather goes. The sun was out most the day and we all got more than our share. We made a B Line for Ke’e Beach , which lies at the head of the Na’Pali coast trailhead. Everyone except Gpa’s Harrell, me and a few of the small kids went on the hike. With the incredible rain fall we’ve had (the most concentrated in more than 50 years someone was saying), the beach was partially washed out. That’s not to say it wasn’t still gorgeous everywhere and didn’t feel like paradise. The ocean breeze and warm sun on the sand was delectable. We spent the better part of the day relaxing in the sun and working on our tans since the forecast for the rest of the week is rainy again…

Moriah, Dresden and Elijah all went on the hike and did great. Dresden complained most the time I heard and dramatized every aspect, but by the end she was happy and said it was fun. Moriah burned her toes on some campfire coals and got great blisters from hiking in new sandals, but didn’t complain much about it and has been a great trooper in every way.

Back in Princeville on the way back to the house, we stopped for Shave Ice. We can’t get enough of it. Especially when we learned about the sweetened condensed coconut milk option…

I played a fun tennis match with AJ Millet, Polly’s soon to be hubby (who proposed last night to her!). He beat me very easily, but it was fun nonetheless and you can’t beat playing outside here with that lovely breeze floating through.

Nonnie fell asleep on my tummy just like when she was a baby. She’s can be such a handful, but she can also still melt me with her sweet hugs and affection and those big blue eyes.
